Post Procedure Care

BROWS

DAY 1 - 3

During the first 24 hours post procedure, some clients notice slight swelling or tightness across the forehead.  Your brows may weep a clear fluid (this is normal).  Wipe them to remove the fluid, otherwise a scab will occur.

Keep the area dry for 3 days (this means not getting them wet in the shower, and no excessive exercise where perspiration beads can form).  Do not use soap or cleansers on the area.  This could be detrimental to the bonding process that must take place for the pigment to become stabilised in your skin.  Do not apply make-up on the tattoo for at least 5 days.

Do not pick at any scaling that may form on the tattooed area, let the scales fall off naturally, as picking can cause scarring.

The pigment colour will darken over the first 24 hours.  This is part of the skins healing process.  Please remember the colour will lighten and the difference will become noticeable within a week.

DAY 4

Clean the area with warm running water using a clean cloth or cotton swab, then pat dry.

Apply a thin smear of Soothing Balm with a microbrush.  This will be given to you after your procedure.  The Soothing Balm will nourish and help repair the skin, protect it from infections and help retain pigment colours.  Keep a fine smear applied throughout the day for the next 5 days.  If you have very oily skin, no Soothing Balm will be needed.

DAY 5 - 8

You may now apply makeup, being gentle around the brow area.  Keep a fine smear of Soothing Balm on your brows throughout the day (usually morning and night is sufficient).

Be aware that skin takes 28 days to repair.

Colours will begin to lighten and soften in 3 to 14 days, but the final colour result cannot be seen until approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

Please ensure you have booked your Follow Up Appointment 4-6 weeks Post Procedure.  (As long as this Follow Up Appointment is attended within 3 months of your initial procedure, this appointment is included in any full priced procedure.  Please note, if you require a third appointment, this will be charged at $150).

EYELINER

DAY 1

Immediately following the procedure, you may look like you have been crying.  Some clients develop slight bruising or swelling of the lid area.  Often this is determined by the extent of the thickness of the Eyeliner Procedure.  Puffiness and tenderness of the lid area may last up to 3 days.  Cold compresses will help reduce the swelling.

Keep your eyes dry for 3 days (this means not getting them wet in the shower, and no excessive exercise where perspiration beads can form).

DAY 3

Apply a thin smear of Soothing Balm with a microbrush.  This will be given to you after your procedure.  The Soothing Balm will nourish and help repair the skin, protect it from infections and help retain pigment colours.  Keep a fine smear applied throughout the day for the next week.

DAY 5

You may now wear mascara.

Please DO NOT have your eyelashes tinted for the 4 weeks following the procedure.

Please ensure you have booked your Follow Up Appointment 4-6 weeks Post Procedure.  (As long as this Follow Up Appoinment is attended within 3 months of your initial procedure, this appointment is attended within 3 months of your initial procedure, this appointment is included in any full priced procedure.)

LIPS

DAY 1 - 3

Swelling is very obvious and subsides after 3 days, but sometimes people a little longer, depending how full the lips are to begin with.  The fuller they are, the more they will swell.  A cold ice compress will help to reduce the swelling.  Lips will be tender and very dry.  It is vital that you keep them moist with Soothing Balm.

As skin takes up to 28 days to heal you may find that your lip will have a dry flaky feel about them post procedure, this is normal.  The simple fact of foods and drink passing the lip area makes the lip require constant care.  Please ensure it is maintained with Soothing Balm.

DAY 3 - 7 (approx)

After 3 to 7 days, the dry skin should flake off the lips.  Continue using the Soothing Balm for one month to repair and condition lips.

Throughout this time the colour on the lip will undergo many changes and at some points seem as though it has completely faded and you will think you have achieved no result.  Please be patient - the colour will take on a new strength as you approach the 6 to 8 week mark.  It is at that time we are able to assess the result.  It is possible that due to the vascularity of the area we may need to implant more colour at the time of your Follow Up appointment.

Please be conscious when selecting your lip procedure colour that you take into account that the final result will always be more muted than the equivalent lipstick colour, as the colour is under the skin and not on top.  What seems extremely bright on the day of treatment will be at least 50% softer by the final healing stage.

** Lip procedures are the most difficult and lengthy procedures to perform.  It is important to understand that the healing process may take up to 4 weeks.

** If you are prone to cold sores June prefers not to perform this procedure on you.

Please ensure you have booked your Follow Up Appointment 6 to 8 weeks Post Procedure.  (As long as this Follow Up Appointment is attended within 3 months of your initial procedure, this appointment is included in any full priced procedure.)  Your complimentary Follow Up Appointment is for the lip line shape only.  As mentioned in the treatment information, full lip colour or blend procedures can be a process of subsequent visits, in order to achieve the desired colour result.

LONGEVITY OF YOUR COSMETIC TATTOO

Exposure to sun over time will cause fading and colour change.

Glycolic Acid, Retinol and other active face peel products must be kept completely away from the tattoo, as they will lighten the colour.

If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal, inform the practitioner of your cosmetic tattoo, to ensure they do not touch the tattoo and lighten or change the colour.

Note:  the longevity of light colours is substantially less than that of stronger darker pigments.  A retouch of colour may be required more frequently if you choose a lighter colour.

We take the responsiblity of treating your face very seriously.  We encourage you to call June on 0409 488 717 if you have any concerns regarding the healing process of your cosmetic tattoo.  If we don't know about it, we can't help you.
